The short version
We only collect what you type into our forms. We use it to reply to you and to tell you when programs open. We don't sell it, we don't run ads, and there is no tracking or analytics on this site. Email tthomas@nextgentyf.org any time and we'll delete what we have on you.
What we collect
There are four forms on this site. Each one only collects what it asks for.
- Interest list (the Apply page): name, email, phone, city and ZIP code, and which program you're interested in. Optional fields: date of birth, a note about yourself, a parent or guardian's name, phone, and email, how you heard about us, and anything we should know to make a class work for you.
- Contact form: name, email, phone (optional), a subject, and your message.
- Volunteer form: name, email, phone (optional), how you want to help, what you do in tech, and when you're free.
- News signup: name and email.
Like every website, ours also receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type. That sits in our hosting provider's server logs. We don't use it to figure out who you are.
The Ask Nova demo
The Ask Nova page lets you try the AI helper from Bot Catchers. It is meant for adults. Here is what happens to what you type there.
- A privacy check runs first, in your browser. It blocks emails, phone numbers, addresses, school names, and full names before anything is sent.
- What gets past that check is sent to Anthropic's Claude to produce an answer and to run two safety checks, one on the question and one on the answer.
- We don't save demo questions or answers. There is no account and no history.
- Don't type anything private. The check catches common patterns, not everything.
Kids' information
Our first programs are for kids ages 8 to 11, so the interest list will include information about children. Here is how we handle that.
- The interest form is meant to be filled out by a parent or guardian. If you're under 18, ask a parent or guardian to fill it out with you.
- We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through this site. If we learn a child under 13 filled out a form on their own, we'll delete it.
- Parents and guardians can see, change, or delete anything we have about their child by emailing us.
- Date of birth is optional. We only ask so we can check that a kid fits the age range for a program.
How we use it
- To reply to you.
- To email you when the program you picked opens for sign-ups.
- To plan for how many kids, volunteers, and laptops to expect.
- To send news, if you signed up for it. Every one of those emails will have a way to stop them.
We won't add you to a mailing list you didn't ask for. We don't sell, rent, or trade your information with anyone.
Who else handles it
A few companies run parts of this site for us. They only get what they need to do their job.
- Netlify hosts the site and stores the form submissions. Read Netlify's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts serves the fonts on this site, so your browser requests them from Google when a page loads. Read Google's privacy policy.
- Anthropic runs Claude, the AI behind the Ask Nova demo. Questions that pass the privacy check are sent to Anthropic to be answered. Read Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Donorbox handles donations. When you click Donate you leave our site and go to theirs. Their privacy policy covers anything you enter there, and we never see your card details. Read Donorbox's privacy policy.
We would also share information if the law required us to.
Cookies and tracking
We don't use analytics, ad pixels, or tracking cookies. The homepage sets one small flag in your browser's session storage when you close the donation banner, so the banner stays closed until you close the tab. That's it.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions as long as we need them for the reason you sent them, then delete them. If you want something deleted sooner, email us and we will.
Your choices
- Email us to see, fix, or delete anything we have about you or your child.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any news email.
- If you would rather not use the forms, email or call us instead.
Security
Form submissions travel over an encrypted connection and are stored by Netlify. Right now only the founder has access to them. No system is perfectly secure. If something happens to your information, we'll tell you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and say what changed.
